I started PT after a car accident. The staff was extremely helpful not just with injuries from the accident, but also other issues that had been bothering me. They are very good at communicating problems and solutions and are friendly to boot. Can’t recommend enough.

Doug Free, the manager at Mercer Island Physical Therapy, has a PhD in PT, and is an amazing diagnostic doctor who explains why a specific injury occurred. He also does fabulous work on your body. His entire staff is knowledgeable and excellent therapists.

Meet the Staff
Margret graduated from Bastyr University with her baccalaureate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She practiced her dietetic internship at Good Shepherd Medical Hospital, The Institute for Healthy Living, and The University of Texas Health Science Center in northeast Texas. Margret has practiced in a variety of settings including acute care for adults, neonatal nutrition, diabetic education, bariatric and weight loss nutrition, and outpatient counseling. Her counseling technique utilizes motivational interviewing to help patients reach goals that are important to them and maintain results over a lifetime. Margret’s passion for health does not end with nutrition. In her leisure time, she hikes in the Cascade Mountains and scrambles up local peaks. She is a former bike racer and current marathon runner. When she is not running she enjoys fly fishing, gardening, and tasting cuisine from all parts of the world.

Born and raised in Washington State, Kris attended Central Washington University where he attained his undergraduate degree in Biology and also played collegiate football. As clinic director Kris believes physical therapy should be one-on-one care customized to fit each individual’s specific goals and needs. With his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, golfing, and snowboarding.

Justin is a new graduate who brings over two decades experience working in the fitness and wellness industry helping people meet their goals. He has worked with a variety of people throughout his career and during his DPT education including pediatrics with special needs, athletes, and adults of all fitness levels. No matter the population, Justin is most passionate about helping people return to the lifestyle and activities that are most important to them. Justin earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in Fine Arts from Western Washington University in 2015 and his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Washington in 2019. Education:

Ben is a Pacific Northwest native that grew up on the Kitsap Peninsula. He has lived in and enjoyed both Bellingham and Seattle. Ben Graduated from Green River Community College with an Associates Degree in Applied Science and became a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in 2017. He also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Western Washington University. Ben is interested in working with all populations and is passionate about helping people live pain-free lives. He likes educating and collaborating with patient to reach their individualized goals. In his free time, Ben enjoys playing soccer, snowboarding, hiking, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family.

Tom was born and raised in Lynnwood, WA and has spent time all across Washington State. He first became interested in physical therapy as a patient, rehabilitating from a soccer injury. He has since graduated from the University of Washington in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and became a licensed physical therapist assistant in July 2018. Most of his clinical experience has been in the orthopedic setting, where he has enjoyed helping patients to achieve their therapy goals. He is interested in pursuing an orthopedic Advanced Proficiency Pathway (APP) for the PTA and is always looking to learn new evidence-based manual therapy techniques. In his free time, Tom enjoys cheering on the Dawgs at Husky football games and giving his full 90 at Sounders matches, while spending time with his wife and cat.

Betsy graduated from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center with a bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences. She has experience with diabetes management, weight loss, cardiovascular disease management, clinical nutrition, and nutrition for fitness. Betsy offers a personalized approach to each patient and helps them conquer barriers to achieve their goals.
Alongside her passion for nutrition, Betsy enjoys traveling, hiking, and reading books.
