Migraine Headaches

Migraines are a centrally mediated pain disorder, meaning they affect the brain and spinal cord. Depending on the muscles and joints involved, physical therapy may help reduce the affects in some patients especially when they are treated early.

There are certain physical therapy techniques that can help reduce the pain of the headache attack and patients can learn self-help aids such as ice, self-massage and relaxation to help decrease their symptoms. Our physical therapists can even train family members in massage techniques along with manual cervical traction that can also help in reducing your headaches.
