– Physical Capacity Evaluations (PCE) / Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) –
The PCE’s primary purpose is to determine an individual’s functional abilities and limitations in the context of a safe environment while focusing on productive work tasks. Our comprehensive PCE determines whether the individual possesses the physical abilities required to meet the demands of the job. This process will correlate the individual’s functional abilities to the physical requirements necessary.
The goal of this evaluation is to develop a functional profile for individuals in the workforce. Thirty seven separate criteria throughout the PCE process help determine progress, consistency of effort, abilities, and limitations.

– Work Conditioning –
Work Conditioning is a multi-disciplinary treatment program that is highly structured and individualized in nature. The program uses real and simulated work activities along with general conditioning tasks to improve the injured worker’s physical condition so he or she can return to work.
Work Conditioning is usually the first step in an injured worker’s return to work rehabilitation program. Treatment sessions are 1.5 -2 hours per day for 1-4 weeks, with return to work as the end goal. If the injured worker is unable to return to work after completing the work conditioning program, they may be an appropriate candidate for the more intense, more comprehensive, work hardening program.
– Work Hardening –
Work Hardening is designed to comprehensively rehabilitate the injured worker to a physical level that allows full-duty return to work. We provide a multi-disciplinary team approach to work rehabilitation, involving the treating physician, employer, insurance representative, the physical therapist, the occupational therapist, and the injured worker. Our primary goal is to return the injured worker to productive employment, through individualized treatment, education, and encouragement.
The program consists of:
- Real or work-simulated activities to restore physical, behavioral, and vocational functions.
- Highly structured, goal-oriented, individualized treatment program designed to promote a complete recovery.
- Treatment sessions designed to restore strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination and cardiopulmonary functions in order to return to the workforce.
- Three to six hour treatment sessions five days per week until the injured worker either reaches full-duty return to work or maximum medical improvement.
