– Medical Nutrition –
Nutrition Counseling or Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is a customized approach to treating disease and pathology through not only modifying eating behaviors, but by addressing any mental and physical roadblocks that are preventing an individual from making sustainable lifestyle changes. In addition to facilitating weight-loss, MNT can be utilized to counteract the effects of nutrition-related disease such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, Celiac disease, obesity and more. Patients receiving physical therapy may also benefit from Nutrition Counseling to help speed-up the process of healing and by naturally reduce pain levels through changes to the diet.
Many insurance plans cover MNT at little or no out-of-pocket expense to the individual!

– Pre-Surgical Wellness –
You and your physician may have decided that surgery is necessary is to minimize your pain and improve your function. Research has shown that reducing your BMI (Body Mass Index) prior to surgery not only reduces the risk of infection and complications during the operation, but can improve joint function and reduce pain long-term. Our comprehensive Program provides you with a roadmap to maximize your post-surgical results by pairing you with a dedicated team consisting of a physical therapist, dietitian, and an exercise specialist. Together, we will work closely with your physician to design a program tailored to meet your individual needs in order to optimize your health prior to undergoing surgery.
Participation in this program can also be customized to those needing a more comprehensive approach to rehabilitation without being a surgical candidate.

“It took me about five years to finally admit that I needed to do something about my hip pain and lack of mobility. I finally went to a surgeon who told me I needed my hips replaced, but first I needed to strengthen my muscles surrounding the hips and lose weight. He prescribed physical and nutrition therapy. After the first visit, I was given a few easy exercises to do on my bed, and I was immediately impressed at how how big of a difference it made! I could move better and some movement (like a pivoting) stopped hurting so much. I got great information from the nutritionist and I started to lose weight. I knew that being in the water made exercise a lot easier and less painful, so I asked to start there. I was soon stronger, and I felt so much better; the rewards for my work were so great. The staff was so supportive and encouraging. My first hip surgery is coming up and thanks to Maya, my physical therapist, and Margret, my nutritionist, I am ready. Pounds lighter and much stronger. These guys improved the quality of my life so much, and I am grateful for that.”-Paula M.“I badly sprained my hip flexor and was on crutches for one day. After that I started going to Physical Therapy. At first it was hard to even raise my leg, but I got the hang of it. It was so much easier, and I felt so strong after PT. I was to thank my physical therapists that used their time to help me out. I wouldn’t be able to run and play soccer if it wasn’t for your help. Thank you.
”-Kamryn C.“Two years ago I began to feel pain in my left knee that reached its height when I was hobbling off Mt. Pilchuck in January. I was unable to climb or hike without experiencing sharp pains in my IT band, the fascia that runs from my hip to my knee on the outside of my left leg.
I worked with Lauren twice a week for the last two months and am back to climbing, hiking, and walking PAIN FREE! I am not only back to my old self, I fell younger in my joints, hips, knees, and ankles! I haven’t felt so good after a workout since I was in high school.
Thank you Lauren for making me feel better! You made it fun too!”-Rocky W.“When I came to RET I was totally nonfunctional, unless you count laying on the sofa. Through hard work I have consistently come from 37% to 83% functionality upon graduating. I have been to several rehabs during my six years of needing it, but RET is completely different. They not only have great therapists that know their business, but they get to know their patients.
Thanks again RET.”-Judi O.
