Kay Compher, PT, CLT
Physical Therapist, Certified Lymphedema Therapist
Kay graduated from the University of Puget Sound with her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 1994. For ten years, her specialty was neurological rehabilitation and was followed by experiences working in administration, home care and outpatient settings.
An introduction to lymphedema and oncology rehabilitation while in PT school ignited Kay’s interests and in 2008, she received her certification as a lymphedema therapist from the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy.Through complete decongestive therapy–including manual lymphatic drainage massage, compression bandaging and patient education–Kay works with individuals to independently manage their lymphedema, and help them to regain functional mobility, strength, endurance and balance.
She also works with patients’ families and caregivers during active treatments for cancer, radiation and chemotherapy.
In addition to treating primary and secondary forms of lymphedema, she also has expertise in treating vascular, post surgical and traumatic forms of swelling.
When not at work, Kay enjoys cooking, baking and trying new recipes, volunteering in her community and her son’s school, traveling, flyball and gardening. She also works to keep up with her active husband, son and their three dogs.
