We want to eat healthy and pre-packaged meals on the go are tempting, but can add up over time. Below we will highlight four easy ways to eat healthy on a budget!
This is key to healthy eating. Plan out exactly what meals you are going to make and write them down on a list. That way, when you go to the store you won’t be tempted to wander and grab some unhealthy options. And it’s a good way to make sure you are eating what’s in the fridge to minimize waste.
Buy in Bulk
Buy certain items in bulk like rice, oats, chicken or vegetables. And when cooking for the week, make enough for leftovers. It takes less time and takes the guess work out of your dinner menu. If they’re on sale, buy as much as you can afford and store to last you until the next sale!
This way we know exactly what is going into our meals and it’s less expensive. Get creative with the leftovers and make a big batch of meals that can be eaten in different ways.
Pay Attention to What’s in Season
Fresh produce is great, but the cost can add up fast if you’re not careful. Stick with buying what’s currently in season to find the cheapest options. Berries and broccoli are great options as we get close to summer time.
