Run, Kaeli, Run!

Research suggests that the best way to stick to a new exercise routine is to have a goal in mind. If you are considering getting back into cardiovascular shape and would like the feeling of success as you work toward a stated goal,  consider participating in a 5k event to jump start your fitness routine.

So why choose a 5k event?

The 5K race has gained popularity significantly over the last several years. It is now the most popular running event of all race distances in the United States, with 7.6 million finishers in 2015. Here’s why:

Ease- Training for a 5k only really requires three days of training per week, which works well with busy schedules. There are many different training plans from which to choose from. There are multiple options you can choose to follow online that will walk you through the whole thing (no pun intended).

Convenience- Most 5k training workouts take 30 minutes and can be done on a treadmill or outside in your neighborhood. By the time you weigh the pros and cons of wanting to run that day – you would be done!

Excitement- Participation in an organized race with other individuals is fun and energizing! The atmosphere is positive, and there are many different 5K races from which to choose from. Santa Suits, froyo, colored chalk cannons, footed pajamas – there really is something for everyone.

Improvement- Training and participating in a 5k event will do improve your overall physical and mental fitness. You will see changes in your body, your energy levels will soar, and you will feel a sense of accomplishment as you work to reach your goal.

Motivation- Working towards completion of a 5K event is an excellent way to be motivated to maintain an exercise routine. Once you commit to the event, it is much easier to continue workouts knowing that you have a solid goal in mind.

Soreness- As with starting any new fitness routine, there is always the chance of discovering weaknesses in your body that might need addressing to keep you healthy and pain-free as you work toward your goal. This is where we can really help. Our team is there to make sure that you know how to properly address these weaknesses should they arise, teach you ways to correct any biomechanics to prevent further injury,  and work with you to help you meet your goals on your fitness journey.
