RET Physical Therapy Group is pleased to offer pilates-based rehabilitation at several of our locations. Pilates exercises were created many years ago by Joseph Pilates and have been adapted overtime to meet our current needs for fitness and rehabilitation. Pilates equipment, including the reformer, wunda chair and trapeze table, are very unique and their use proves to be quite beneficial as a portion of physical therapy care. This equipment can be adapted for individual needs as springs are used for resistance and/or assistance with movement. This allows your physical therapist to monitor your movements and adjust to your specific needs.
Pilates-based exercise emphasizes core stabilization, strength and flexibility. It is safe for clients with spinal injuries, orthopedic injuries, work-related injuries, osteoperosis, multiple sclerosis, following a stroke, post surgically, and much more when guided by a licensed professional. At your physical therapy sessions, your therapist will determine when you are ready to progress to therapeutic exercise and advance your program to include pilates-based exercise as appropriate.
For more information and/or questions regarding pilates-based rehabilitation, the pilates courses offered, and how pilates-based rehabilitation might help your specific situation please phone one of our participating locations.
